Abstract: This study describes a continuum model for integration and illustration of engineering design and science integration in instructional activities Activities for the continuum model range from independent engineering design or science activities involving no integration, to balanced activities that include both engineering design and science core ideas and practices, suggested in the NGSS The efficacy of the proposed continuum model in characterizing engineering design and science integrated activities has been demonstrated using example activities from science practitioner journals The proposed continuum model is designed to contribute to the effective integration of engineering design in science instruction
