Abstract: Virtualizing the Surgeon Operation Procedures in Medical Education Up-to-date surgical training in situ is of tremendous importance to practicing surgeons through many stages in their careers. On the other hand, first and second year students are not allowed to go into the operation rooms before they hit the third grade. According to our research both professional surgeons and medical students rely medical video atlases in order to avoid long reading textbooks and taking advantages of visual learning of the surgeon procedures However, our target users of the Atlas vary including surgeons in sub-specialty areas (eg, orthopedic surgery); first and second year medical students for pre-service training; operation room staffs for surgical coordination training; and K-12 students for career experience The prototype is created based on the research findings at the first phase of the project The prototype reflects the needs and expectations of the target audience, in that case, physicians who conduct surgery and pre-service medical students The research results from expert interviews and proposed prototype as well as future work will be presented to the attendees
