Abstract: Our research team has been working with the administrators, teachers, parents, staff and students Nan Chiau Primary School (NCPS) in Singapore since 2008 as the school has undertaken the journey to distance themselves from employing a direct instruction pedagogy and to develop an innovative school culture with a focus on inquiry as the core pedagogy. Our panel will focus on the exploring the ecological factors that are involved in supporting grades 3 and 4, math, science, social studies, and English teachers in making this transition. Our intent in this panel is to identify the invariants – the ecological factors that are general – and to identify the factors that are local to Singapore and NCPS.
