Abstract: In 2010 the United States Government released the National Educational Technology Plan (NETP) to set the vision for how technology will help bridge the achievement gap and raise the percentage of college graduates. To achieve those goals the NETP put forth 23 recommended actionable items divided under five large themes of: learning, assessment, teaching, infrastructure, and productivity. We believe one of the most efficient ways of evaluating our progress towards technology integration and fulfillment of these standards is through the eyes of teachers since they are ultimately the last stop towards implementation. This case study chronicles the progress towards technology integration for nine gifted and talented teachers. We report the signs of progress towards integration as well as some of the issues they face. Particularly we focus on how teachers used a parent volunteer to overcome many of their technology integration roadblocks and meet the five main NETP themes.
