Abstract: Researchers and public media game developers have joined together with teachers and children under the NSF-funded Next Generation Preschool Math research and development project, resulting in the mobile app series and tablet-infused curriculum supplement Early Math with Gracie & Friends™. Here we will use the experience and findings from years of iterative research and development to present best practices for integrating tablet games and tablet technology-infused curricula into preschool classrooms. This includes: preparing classrooms for digital learning, preparing classrooms for collaborative and social experiences with technology, participating in and promoting children’s learning through joint media engagement, selecting high quality tablet apps and content, committing to and investing in the technology, engaging in professional development opportunities for integrating technology-infused curricula, and taking learning further than the classroom by empowering parents.
