Abstract: Ohio’s Third Grade Guarantee, a state initiative designed to identify struggling readers from kindergarten through third grade, presents a new set of challenges to early childhood literacy instructors charged to make sure students are on track for reading success by the end of third grade. Innovative use of developmentally effective and mobile technologies has proved to be a vital tool in supporting identified K-3 students struggling in literacy. This presentation explores the utilization of innovative technology in the development and implementation of a content area, rich literacy intervention program. Specific examples include the measurement, monitoring and reporting of data, informal documentation of student progress, and integration of technology-rich learning experiences.
