Abstract: When roughly 99% of elementary and secondary students report using digital technologies in their learning,* it has become clear that digital resources must be embedded in teacher preparation. However, the trend of using mobile versions of print textbooks fails to leverage technology for learning the way that K-12 teachers will ultimately be asked to. Teacher educators should be re-imagining the learning experience so that teachers learn about student engagement, multimodal accessibility, and active learning with resources that are themselves engaging, multimodal and interactive.
