Career Interests of Students in a STEAM Camp
Roundtable
ID: 41112
Abstract: Career interests of elementary and middle school students were examined after their participation in a recent summer science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) camp experience. Older students showed higher interest in STEM careers than younger students. Female students also showed a higher interest in STEM careers than male students. Both findings can be explored in future programs which integrate the art component with STEM activities. These findings could possibly be of interest when looking for ways to motivate youth to pursue a career in STEM.
