Digital Storytelling in a pre-service teachers’ classroom: a Community of Practice
Abstract: The aim of this study was to understand how digital storytelling (DST) production led a group of pre-service teachers to create a shared understanding that bound them together to successfully complete their individual digital stories for assessment. Community of Practice which encompasses situated learning was used as a framework in this study to examine the process of developing DSTs and how that created the understanding and brought the pre-service teachers together. Qualitative research approach was employed to collect data through focus group interviews and written reflections on the process and production of their DST. Results of study show that the DST process and production influenced the pre-service teachers to create a shared understanding among them; hence developing a community of practice conducive to the recognition and respect of others and their culture
