Abstract: Intended to enhance the skills and broaden the perspective of attendees. This tutorial is designed to introduce a rigorous framework for recognizing the benefits of e-learning technology for marginalized and remote audiences. This tutorial will provide concrete strategies for the use of technology in the Aboriginal Community to further economic inclusion and capacity building through education. Mr. Martin Sacher has presented in national and international symposiums on education and e-learning technology. He will present strategies and proven practices in empowering marginalized clients towards successful educational outcomes. Martin will discuss how Sunchild E-Learning is a leader in on-line educational delivery to Aboriginal Communities in Canada, show how Sunchild E-Learning integrates Technology into their delivery, and the valuable insight they have gained in delivery to marginalized groups. He will give concrete examples of how technology can help achieve educational and economic success in the Aboriginal community.

Qualifications

Martin Sacher B.S.S.P.E.; B.Ed ; Ed.Admin ; M.Ed Mr. Sacher has been active in the field of education for over 30 years. More than 20 of these years have been as a high school principal in public high schools. The last 12 years have seen Martin act as the school principal for the Sunchild First Nation and the administrator for the Sunchild E-Learning Program Mr. Sacher used his expertise in technology to complete his Masters’ Degree, which specialized in the implementation of technology into applicable teaching strategies. While visiting Sunchild in the 1990’s Martin quickly recognized the need and challenge required to improve First Nation’s education. It was here at Sunchild that Martin developed and implemented the successful Sunchild E-learning model now internationally recognized and being sought after and supported by major corporations. Martin is a proven successful educator and administrator who has proven experience in First Nations Education programming and administration. Martin has a proven track record of working with First Nation Chief’s and First Nation Council’s, The Federal and Provincial offices of INAC and Major Corporations. Over the years Martin has been a sought after speaker in the area of Aboriginal education issues nationally and internationally. Some of his speaking engagements include: - Asia Pacific Economic Conference, 2006 - Team Canada Delegation to Sydney Australia for 1st World Aboriginal Economic Development Conference. July 2006 - Synergy Alberta, Red Deer 2006 - Workplace Education and Learning Conference, Toronto, Dec, 2006 - Canadian delegation to the World Exposition on Innovative use of technology in Hong Kong in March 2007 and 2008 - Speaker - International Symposium on Aboriginal Economic Development March 2009 attended by Premier Ed Stelmach - Global Best Awards 2010 - the Global Best Regional Winner (The Americas) – Helsinki, Finland.
