Abstract: Methodologies for adapting college courses for distance education are of acute interest to educators because of the current emphasis of college and university administrations to appeal to students beyond the regional scope of the campus. This article examines one university’s attempt to develop a toolset for use by faculty to enhance their ability to assemble, develop, and adapt content for online delivery. By examining instructional design models, rubrics developed to assess the use of best practices in existing online courses, and concerns of specific importance to their home institution, the practitioners suggest a toolset that will assist faculty in examining and structuring content to allow for more effective and timely development of online course materials.
