Abstract: Critical Thinking Scaffolds (CTS) (Coombs, 2000) are tools, which enable the representation of teachers’ tacit knowledge in a form that can be accessed and engaged with by policy makers, instructional designers, researchers and practitioners. CTS provide a simple and accessible means by which classroom-based teachers, who are increasingly bombarded with government and school-based initiatives that threaten to make them mere purveyors, can become creators of knowledge.
