Abstract: This panel addresses the following questions. What is the status of Geographic Information systems (GIS) in education? How is GIS integrated into classrooms across the nation? What are the associated benefits and problems? What are the benefits of community partnership in integrating GIS? What are the recommendations for pre-service GIS integration? What are the infrastructures needed to support GIS pre-service and in-service teacher education? Practitioner/researchers report research conducted over the past four years.
