Abstract: This ongoing study: Computer Science for All, funded by the National Science Foundation is spearheaded by the University of West Florida and provides a program for preparing/assisting high school computer science teachers and high school counselors within Escambia County School District located within the Florida panhandle. The Computer Science for All program focuses on preparing/increasing the numbers of high school students successfully completing computer science courses, thereby building the numbers of computer science professionals needed for 2025 and beyond. Two pervasive research questions dominate the project: Research Question One: What is the impact of the continuous support instructional coaching model on the pedagogical knowledge of high school computer science teachers? Research Question Two: What is the impact of the High School Guidance Counselors on the enrollments in Computer Science participation? This presentation focuses on the examination of three specific strategies indicative to the on-going Computer Science for All NSF Project: (1) Examination of the Knight Coaching/Mentoring Model within the context of mentoring High School Computer Science Teachers; (2) Integration and Role of High School Counselors as Key Leaders for Promoting Computer Science for All within the NSF Project and (3) the Presentation and Examination of the Tools Used to Measure and Evaluate the Efficacy of the Computer Science for All Program.
