Abstract: The effects of the global pandemic on higher education with moving online has been on the frontline since Spring 2020. Many college instructors found themselves in the situation of sink or swim. This paper presents a cross-cultural narrative qualitative study analyzing the stories of two college faculty (in the United States and Romania), who, due to COVID-19 pandemic, were required to move their face-to-face courses to an online format. The conceptual framework looked for factors such as: instructor and students’ skills to work online, available platforms, and institutional context.
