Abstract: In this session, the author will describe how she leveraged the shift from face-to-face to online teaching under the current COVID crisis to re-imagine her course. The demo lesson will share how transformational learning approaches (Mezirow, 1997) and technological pedagogical content knowledge (Koehler & Mishra, 2009) can be used to foster active learning. Participants will engage in best practices in synchronous and asynchronous learning, developing social-emotional and cultural learning skills in students and teachers, and universal design for learning principles. She will share key strategies on guiding teacher candidates through critical confrontations of systemic problems of practice (sPoP) in alignment with her teacher college of education’s vision and mission.
