Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic has had extensive immediate and potentially long-lasting influences on numerous aspects of our lives, and has had a particularly profound impact on PreK-12 and post-secondary education. As teachers and students are shifting to remote and blended learning environments as the norm, school districts and colleges of education are transitioning from the initial “survival” phase to more in depth examinations of how they prepare and support teachers for these new environments. In this Birds of a Feather session, we will explore current and diverse ways in which schools and teachers are coping with the impacts of COVID-19 on the teaching and learning environment through consideration of two scenarios, and will work together to envision how we can most effectively impact preservice and inservice teachers’ efficacy for teaching in in the COVID-19 era and beyond.
