Abstract: The purpose of this integrative literature review is to synthesize the current literature in order to define an instructional framework for designing immersive learning. The literature on immersive learning is relatively new given that the term “immersion” has come into favor as virtual three dimensional environments have become possible in education. However, immersion has a scattered literature, focusing on a variety of learning designs such as simulation based learning, scenario based learning, problem-based learning, constructivist learning, and others that define learning not as a transmission model.
