Abstract: In the unprecedented national transition to remote education in Spring of 2020 during the COVID-19 global pandemic, parents and students were not given the choice to transition to online education, nor the time to research their options. Further, the large majority of students were not transitioning to previously developed curriculum and most often schools, educators, and families were unprepared for this rapid shift to remote education. Therefore, significant challenges have arisen due to this rapid shift to virtual education. Thus, districts, schools, and families are in need of solutions as the extension of remote education continues in many states for Fall 2020 and potentially future semesters in many affected areas. This presentation seeks to explore the term “crisis education,” define potential issues of lack of access and equity for students transitioning to remote education, and present solutions as well as contributions to the current discussion of student equity during crisis education
