Abstract: This study developed a game-based collaborative learning method with adaptive guidance specialized for students with disabilities to improve their mathematical problem-solving achievement. The method, including heterogeneous team formation, setting learning objectives, adaptive learning path planning, formative assessment and immediate feedback, was designed to address diverse learning needs of students with disabilities to help reduce cognitive load and improve learning motivations. A quasi-experimental design was adopted. The experimental group of 22 students with disabilities participated in a game-based collaborative learning activity spanning over two months, whereas the disabled students in the comparison group received a traditional collaborative learning program.
