Abstract: Makerspaces in K-12 education could prepare students for the growing percentage of careers available in STEAM fields. In this quantitative, questionnaire-based research study, the influence of the implementation of a Fab Lab on third through eighth grade student STEAM attitudes and achievement in a K-12 school district was investigated. Data analysis revealed that STEAM attitudes were high during the first year of Fab Lab implementation. The increase in third through eighth grade mathematics achievement was not positively related to the Fab Lab implementation. However, science achievement showed statistically significant positive correlation during the inaugural year. Teacher technology integration levels were examined related to the Fab Lab implementation. Teachers who received specialized professional development, Fab Lab Ambassadors, showed slightly higher technology integration levels than teachers without training. As an extension of this study, school leaders could design and implement a more comprehensive technology professional learning model tailored to the needs of faculty members.
