Designing an Inquiry-based Flipped Classroom using a Visual Mapping Software
Abstract: Flipped classrooms have seen increasing popularity in recent years. Although there are mixed opinions on the effectiveness of the method, however, there are increasing evidences of high education institutions adopting it. There are not many pieces of research on the Flipped classrooms being used in an Inquiry Based Learning environment in higher education. This roundtable (paper) aims to document and describe a course design process where the flipped classroom method was adopted to design an inquiry based graduate level course. However, the main focus for this paper will be how to use Plectica - a visual mapping software to effectively design the course, align the elements, and integrate the principles of both flipped classrooms and inquiry based learning.
