Abstract: Virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) can be used in e-learning in a number of ways, including virtual classrooms, virtual fieldtrips, scenarios, and practical education and can be used anywhere and anytime there is an internet connection. Learners could practice public speaking, take a virtual field trip anywhere, or teleport inside the body to explore red blood cells. Virtual reality uses computer technology to create a three dimensional virtual environment the user experiences as if the user is actually there. The user becomes part of the virtual environment and interacts with it by manipulating objects or performing actions. In contrast, AR superimposes computer generated images and animations on real world scenes or views. Examples of AR are the popular Pokemon Go game and the Walking Dead game, where players use their smartphone cameras to view their environment and try to catch creatures superimposed on the environment using software.
