Abstract: The purpose of the study is to determine the nature of how and why students choose to engage in learning the content of an online course and how it impacts their perceived levels of engagement in the course. The researchers will offer their online graduate students four strategies for learning the content. Data will be collected during the summer and fall quarters of 2019. Research hypothesize that when students have the autonomy to learn and engage with the content in a manner they see fit, they will better understand the content and see the topics presented interesting and valuable.
