Abstract: This in progress research study examines the attention and relevance categories of Keller’s ARCS model. An undergraduate asynchronous online course about mechanical and structural factors in aviation safety is being examined for the addition of content in the form of text scenarios, images, or videos with the purposeful intent of gaining the learners attention. The study is examining the students’ perceptions of the course content in relation to motivation and gaining attention with the use of Keller’s Instructional Materials Motivation Survey (IMMS).
