Abstract: In order to develop a curriculum of basic information and communications technology (ICT) education for first-year university students, it is important to grasp their information literacy and basic knowledge. In this research, the authors developed a checklist for students to self-evaluate their operational skills. It comprises 40 items divided into four categories: (a) computer operations, (b) Internet/e-mail, (c) Word, (d) Excel/PowerPoint.
