Abstract: Adaptive Teaching Model (ATM): How to adapt online teaching behaviors to better meet students' cognitive needs. We will share the results of a research project that surveyed faculty, instructional designers and online learning administrators to identify specific teaching behaviors that are believed to contribute to online learning success. We will share initial results from a second research project can contribute to decision-making regarding student retention and best practices for online teaching. We will also share the results of a pilot to implement adaptive teaching strategies to improve learner success. Finally, we will discuss plans for the development of an online tool that can be used by instructors to administer two instruments in their classes and receive guidance on adapting their teaching strategies to individually support the learning success of their students.
