Abstract: This presentation examines the development of a 3-dimensional virtual environment for a museum sponsored by a Mexican University. The presentation will discuss the design and development of the 3-d museum environment from a technological and usability perspective, the role of the environment toward user-visitation (both to the physical and virtual environs), and the effectiveness of knowledge acquisition within the virtual environment compared to the traditional web-based version. These perspectives and implications will aid educators, museums, and designers in creating content and interface to produce effective instruction within a 3-dimensional learning environment.
