Abstract: The overarching aim of this research was to study how mobile technology can catalyze informal learning and bridge the gap between informal and non-formal learning. In this study 30 Kenyan elite runners were equipped with an Android smartphone and free Internet for one year. This project used log data, workshops and interviews to track the users’ progress. During the course of the study a desire for more formalized learning developed.
