Transforming E-Learning: A Three-Tiered Approach to Integrating Instructional Technology
Abstract: This brief paper examines how one department in the university developed a technology initiative for faculty and students. This initiative has since expanded to multiple programs and departments on campus. The project proceeded through a three-tiered approach derived by the presenters. This system includes learning literacy to establish a knowledge base amongst faculty members, augmenting/integrating technology use in courses to model the use of electronic learning, and transformation of the programs, where the activity of learning can only be accomplished through leveraging technology. Researchers employed a mixed method approach to data collection and analysis which indicated an increased rate of faculty and student competency levels using instructional technology.
