Abstract: Advancements in information and communication technologies (ICT) have changed learning and teaching methods. Technologies such as the Internet, multimedia, and online databases, educators and learners have more options about when and where learning may take place. Language learning systems are one outcome of these technological advancements. At Waseda University in Japan, a language teaching model named Tutorial Chinese (TC) was created consisting of one native speaking tutor and four students to provide more opportunities to intensively learn Chinese with native speakers. Eventually tutors were added who are located in Beijing, and Taipei, and it was necessary to create an e-learning system named Tutorial Chinese Platform (TCP) to facilitate this form of distance learning. We want to present this model and discuss approaches and ideas about the use of e-learning language systems with interested people.
