Abstract: Over the past 20 years, knowledge work has been transformed by the explosion of information sources and information flow. This has caused fairly radical changes in core work tools and methods. But the bigger and more profound change is the radically increased accessibility of experts and expertise across organizations and around the world. These changes in knowledge work coupled with fragmentation of jobs, constant change are causing interesting changes to workplace learning. In this talk, Dr. Tony Karrer will describe these profound changes and how learning solutions are evolving in the workplace because of these changes. He will give you a look over the shoulder of a modern knowledge worker using web 2.0 tools such as blogging, social networking, RSS, microblogging, social bookmarking and others as part of their work. Dr. Karrer will give a glimpse of the opportunities for learning professionals and organizations to integrate these skills, tools and processes as part of their learning solutions.
