Abstract: In recent years, many collaborative environments for teaching and learning have emerged as part of engaging students in online learning environments. However, international and multicultural online learning spaces raise difficulties pertaining to intercultural discourse, identity, language, social codes, and learning styles. Virtual Worlds (VW) like Second Life (SL) provide a variety of tools and functions that allow for a wider expression and learning possibilities. VW as a learning space leads to an active, experiential, immersive, collaborative, and game-based learning approach.
