Abstract: Psychological evidence is available that points to the cognitive advantages of game play. Games engage and encourage learners while fostering the mastery of skills and content knowledge. Games involve learners in a way that motivates and facilitates perseverance due to the nature of their design. (Gee, 2003). Games provide incentives and instant feedback that contributes to a sense of achievement (Kapp, 2012). Furthermore, gaming also facilitates genuine learning and problem-solving opportunities (Gee, 2003). When playing games, individuals are likely to become immersed in the experience, are more likely to recall content, and develop a lifelong understanding of concepts as a result of this particular interaction (Gee, 2003).
