Abstract: Informal learning is a professional survival tool that instructional design (ID) professionals and students depend on to adapt to their job conditions and elicit the needed information and skills for design judgments. To date, there is no conceptual framework that guides the integration of informal learning activities into formal ID degree programs to help students receive a holistic learning experience that addresses the dynamic and evolving nature of ID and establishes a lifelong learning trajectory.
