Abstract: This paper reports on the current implementation of a new tool for work based learning at the HOGENT University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Ghent. The basic principle was providing a portfolio based tracking system for each student that is readily accessible and also ensures a transparent follow-up across the different course units. This approach is gradually implemented and evaluated in a wide variety of educational programs in IT, Science and Economy. The track of each student is steered through the input and feedback of the three main actors in the learning process: the student, the teacher and the company mentor. They connect inline in the so-called ‘trialogue’ delivered by Cosnics, a free and open source LCMS that offers all the tools to enable interaction and guidance for the students, necessary for effective and efficient work based learning. A live demo of the trialogue tool will be shown.
