Abstract: This reflection highlights the art and technique for preparing reluctant teacher candidates to be technology prima donnas in their future classrooms using the case study of undergraduate and graduate science methods courses. From course, design to selection and implementation of educational technologies to outcomes analysis, an adaptable model for immersing teacher candidates in a technology-rich learning environment is presented. Additional attention is made to raising teacher candidates’ motivation to learn how to use technology in lesson design given the frequent resistance students bring to the prospect. The paper examines the “ups” and “downs,” takeaways, and lessons learned.
