Abstract: The edTPA (Teacher Performance Assessment) is a national assessment that measures teacher candidates’ readiness to teach. In the US, there are 41+ states participating in the edTPA. The assessment consists of three tasks; planning, instruction and assessment. It occurs in a school setting with K-12 learners. The edTPA portfolio is scored by outside trained evaluators provided by Pearson Publishing. Fifteen rubrics are used across the three tasks for scoring competence. Because this extensive performance assessment is done during student teaching, candidates often feel overwhelmed and benefit from coaching.
