Abstract: Math classrooms are notorious among teachers for having a structured curriculum, often designed by textbook and learning management software companies. The increasing use of online learning technologies can de-personalize student learning and is often seen by teachers and students as an inauthentic learning experience. This paper will detail both research regarding authentic mathematical learning experiences, trends in math education, and one teacher's experience creating a blended online and in-class series of learning experiences utilizing online learning systems as well as authentic data and problem-based applications.
