Abstract: Mobile learning has become increasingly advanced due to the proliferation of smartphone users and the powerful technologies nowadays. Apps are of abundance and especially in the learning domain; learning content in different subjects can be downloaded onto one’s smartphone for immediate or later use. In both fields of mobile learning (m-learning) and learning analytics (LA), the importance of the use of LA in mobile learner data has been explored to a limited extent. Hence, the purpose of this study was to examine benefits of the utilization of learning analytics to support study success in m-learning settings. Findings indicate that the main benefits of the use of learning analytics within m-learning applications are mobile contextual learning benefits and data visualization of learning progress anytime and anywhere. Finally, examples of m-learning analytics (MLA) are provided, and a discussion of our future work is presented.
