Abstract: The purpose of this study is to examine the principles of Design-based Learning (DBL) in order to understand the engineering design for facilitating the activation of engineering education in Korea. It also investigates the gender awareness perspective from the view of cultural diversity so as to enhance the creativity and innovation in the engineering field. Based on such discussions, it suggests the gender awareness perspective that should be considered in the course of DBL in engineering education. This study is meaningful in that it suggests a new idea on recent demands for change in engineering education of Korea by combining the ultimate goal of DBL and the gender awareness perspective.
