Abstract: This study examined the prospective K-8 teachers’ use of web-based materials in their mathematics teaching. As a part of their course project, twenty-eight prospective teachers prepared lesson plans and made teaching presentations. All the lesson plans were analyzed to identify the type of technology, instructional goal, grade level, and content area they chose for their instruction. The analysis of lesson plans indicated that prospective teachers mostly used online games (OGs) as secondary instructional activities to improve K-2 students’ mathematical skills. On the other hand, they mostly used virtual manipulatives (VMs) as primary instructional activities to enhance 3-5 grade students’ knowledge of concepts and skills. The findings also revealed that prospective teachers significantly improved their pedagogical and content knowledge as a result of their participation to the course project.
