Abstract: This paper outlines an effective methodology for selecting learning management system (LMS) software applications for any size of academic institution. Given the number of options available for LMS applications in the software market, a structured technique for assessing features against the institution’s custom requirements is clearly necessary. A weighted requirements assessment of the features of the software makes sense, but runs into difficulty when attempting to compare cost of ownership between applications.
